We've just completed our third day in training - only eight more to go! We thought we'd have time to post something every night, but we realize now that the training is very intensive and long every day, but it's worth every minute. We will try to post every couple of days.
Day 1 - From the first moment we met her, we realized Ruby was a perfect fit for our family! She has a gentle spirit and bonded with us very quickly. We learned the commands "sit" "free" "down" "shake". Ruby really helped us learn quickly. Grammy and Pop pop helped a great deal keeping Kate busy as we learned. Lindsay made friends with all the kids. When she left on Wednesday, everyone was sad to see her go. They will all be back next week to help out.
The Billings Family meet Ruby for the first time.

Day 3 - Today we were introduced to "tracking", which is using the dog for Search and Rescue. The instructors had Dave take Kate about 200 yards away, hidden behind some trees, while Ruby was out of sight behind the cars. Once the "track"command was given, Ruby quickly sprung to attention. She immediately picked up Kate's scent and led Kristin and the instructor to Kate within a couple of minutes, following the exact path Dave and Kate had walked. It was quite amazing.
